About Us

Background

The Libyan Physical Therapy Association (LPTA) was established on August 18, 2024, by a dedicated group of 76 founding members who are passionate about elevating the standards and practices within the field of physical therapy in Libya. Situated at the College of Medical Technology in Misrata, Libya, the LPTA serves as a pivotal organization dedicated to the professional development of physical therapists across the nation. The association’s formal inauguration on August 31, 2024, marked a significant milestone in Libya’s healthcare sector, reflecting a collective commitment to advancing the profession through education, research, and innovation. The LPTA has been officially accredited by the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research in Libya, on August 18, 2024, (REFERENCE 925/ 2024) which is the body responsible for regulating scientific associations in the country.

Mission

Our mission is to advance the field of physical therapy by fostering professional development and ensuring that practitioners have access to the latest knowledge, evidence-based practices, and innovations in the field. We aim to create a dynamic and collaborative environment where physical therapists can excel, thereby enhancing the quality of care provided to patients across Libya.

Goals

The LPTA is dedicated to achieving several key goals that support the advancement of the profession. One of our primary aims is to enhance professional development by offering comprehensive training programs, workshops, and seminars to ensure that members remain informed about the latest advancements in physical therapy. We are also committed to supporting research and innovation by encouraging and funding initiatives that contribute to the growing body of knowledge in physical therapy and related fields. The LPTA seeks to advocate for the profession by representing the interests of physical therapists at both the national and international levels, ensuring the profession is recognized and respected. Additionally, we aim to improve healthcare delivery by integrating physical therapy services into the broader healthcare system, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and improving patient outcomes. Engaging with the community is another essential goal, as we work to raise public awareness about the benefits of physical therapy, conduct outreach programs, and provide education on preventive healthcare. Finally, we are dedicated to establishing ethical standards by developing and upholding a code of ethics that ensures all physical therapists in Libya adhere to the highest levels of professionalism and patient care.
